Carrier is now required to comply with the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), as amended in Chapter VI, Part A, Regulation 2, which requires Carrier to provide the Verified Gross Mass (weight) of every loaded Container that is tendered to an underlying Vessel Operator prior to loading of the Container on board Ship. Therefore, except as otherwise provided on individual Web Rate Pages (TLIs) or in NRAs, governed by this Tariff, all LCL, Break Bulk, Palletized or Loose Cargo which is tendered to Carrier to be loaded into a Container for movement From, To or Thru the Ports and Points named below will be SBJ to the CARGO GROSS MASS VERIFICATION CHARGE (VGM) named below, which charge shall be in addition to all other applicable charges. a. At a Carrier designated Origin Container Freight Station, Warehouse or Terminal, Carrier will either measure and weigh each piece, package or unit of cargo presented for transportation or rely on Shipper’s declaration of cargo dimensions, cubic volume and/or weight. However, any Carrier ascertained dimensions, volume and weight shall be deemed paramount and will be used to calculate the charges named in this Rule. b.
